Pilots are certainly welcome to fly this without the optional scenery download. As you can see there's quite a bit of default scenery included,
but you will miss some of the waypoint scenic stops and other details without the optional scenery download available for P3D/FSX.
Here is a description of P3D/FSX default and additional scenery addon:
FSX/P3D Default Scenery:
1. Florida State Capitol (Included in both FSX/P3D [Make sure you have detail set to high or it won't be included])
3. Daytona International Speedway (Only the box-shaped Lake Lloyd is included with FSX/P3D scenery
5. Space Shuttle Launch Pad (Included with both FSX/P3D - but only the empty launch pad is with P3D while FSX includes the space shuttle)
6. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex (Included with P3d but not FSX, includes the space shuttle Atlantis).
7. Disney World and Space Mountain building (included with both FSX/P3d)
8. Epcot Center (Included with both FSX/P3D)
10. Bok Tower Gardens (FSX has a little stone marker where the tower belongs)
12 Biltmore Hotel (FSX/P3d only include the Biltmore Golf Course).
SPA Florida Sightseeing Scenery Download for FSX/P3D scenery additions:
2. Castillo de San Marcos (Castillo de San Marcos Fort added to scene)
3. Daytona International Speedway (the speedway is added to scene)
4. Ponce de Leon Inlet Light (The Ponce de Leon Inlet Light is added to scene)
7. Disney World and Space Mountain building (Fireworks at night are added to scene)
9. Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian House (The Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian House is added to scene)
10. Bok Tower Gardens (Bok Tower is added to scene)
11. Stiltsville (Stiltsville Houses are added to scene)
12 Biltmore Hotel (Biltmore Hotel Complex added to scene).
This flight takes about 5.25 hours in a Twin Otter, not including landings and takeoffs. Anything faster than the Otter might make circling sights, finding them, and
following roads difficult. Kodiak is a poor choice for this because of its tendency to fall out of the sky at low speeds. Given the distances involved with this charter
I recommend a faster plane like Twin Otter or comparable aircraft.
I've broken the flight into five flight groups. Some are shorter than others, but allow for landing and filing a pirep so that you can change your time of day without causing
SPAACARs program to go into Error Mode if this is done mid-flight. This is important if you want to enjoy the fireworks display over Disney World - a very nice addition,
especially if you're using P3D. You can certainly fly as long or short as you wish, breaking the flights up into as many or few legs as you wish. There are plenty of places to
land to give your passengers a rest until the next flying day or night.
Note: You will want to look at the Passenger Itinerary to familiarize yourself with the various sights to help you recognize them from the air. Also, there are FSX/P3d and XPlane flight plans included in the download file for this flight. This will direct you to the various landmarks and you should be able to recognize them from the picture included in the Passenger Itinerary.
Flight Group 1 (336.7 nm)
KTPA Tampa Intl
- Florida State Capitol (FLSC)
- Castillo de San Marcos (CDSM)
KSGJ St. Augustine Regional
Your flight starts and eventually ends at Tampa Intl Airport (KTPA). Your passengers are arriving at GA Gate 22 by airport bus, and should be waiting for you when you arrive at that gate (good idea to just start your flight at that gate).
Your first flyover is the Florida State Capitol in Tallahassee. It's a long flight there (174.5 nm). Once you've completed that flyover for picture, you can fly on to your next destination. The nice domed structure in the foreground is the historic capitol, and the new capitol is the ugly tall white one just behind it.
The next stop is Castillo de San Marcos. Again, a long flight (158.2 nm). Don't worry - they get much shorter after this. The Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest and largest masonry fort in the continental United States.
This may be enough for your passengers for one day, so land at KSGJ (St. Augustine Airport) for the night (or until you're ready to fly the next leg).
Flight Group 2 (104 nm)
KSGJ St. Augustine Regional
- Daytona International Speedway (DIS)
- Ponce de Leon Inlet Light (PDLL)
- Space Shuttle Launch Pad (SSLP)
- Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex (KSCV)
KTIX Space Coast Regional
This flight group is about a third of the last one, but it has a number of sights to see (4 of them give or take depending on your sim's default scenery). Take off from KSGJ, and your next waypoint is DIS (Daytona International Speedway). If flying FSX/P3d, you will only find the box-shaped Lloyd Lake there unless you have our FL-sightseeing scenery download installed. With our scenery you can fly around the speedway for pictures.
A short 9.7 miles from Daytona you will find waypoint PDLL if you have the scenery install (Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse). Circle the light for pictures and then off to our next waypoint.
33-miles away is your next waypoint (SSLP and/or KSCV) You have special permission to fly over the NASA area to see the sights. The first is the Space Shuttle Launch Pad. If you have FSX you will be treated to both the launch pad with the shuttle positioned on it. Surprisingly, P3D offers less here - only the empty launch pad, however, after checking out the launch pad and the other launch pads located nearby, you P3D simmers can fly on to waypoint KSCV (Kennedy Space Center Visitor's Complex). Here your guests can also see the space shuttle Atlantis.
Land at KTIX (Space Coast Regional Airport) to complete this flight group and file your pirep. You will need to shut down SPAACARS program to change your time of day to a night flight for the next segment - especially if you're using our scenery download.
Flight Group 3 (52.4 nm)
KTIX
- Disney World (DIWO)
- Epcot Center (EPCT)
KISM Kissimmee Gateway Airport
Now a special treat for your guests - a short night flight around Disney World. Rumor has it that there will be fireworks after dark (note that I didn't say dusk - your simulator time of day must be set to night). You will leave KTIX for a short 52.4 mile flight around Disney World and Epcot Center before landing at Kissimmee Gateway Airport (KISM). Fly on first to Disney World (waypoint DIWO) and then on to Epcot Center (EPCT). After your guests have lots of pictures, take them into KISM for the night. It will be daytime flights the rest of the way.
Flight 4 219.2mn
KISM
- Usonian House (FWUH)
- Bok Tower Gardens (BTG)
- Stiltsville (STVI)
- Biltmore Hotel - Miami (BMHM)
KMIA
Flight Group 4 is a bit longer now (219.2 nm). Take off from KISM and fly the relatively short distance (31.2 nm) to your first sight of the day - waypoint FWUH (The Frank Lloyd Wright
Usonian House). Now on to the Bok Tower Gardens just 20.6 nm away (waypoint BTG). Now sit back for the long ride to your next waypoint (STVI) - Stiltsville, a few houses out in
the water on stilts - apparently a tourist attraction. Now head towards Miami Intl for your guests to have a fancy dinner at the Palme d'Or restaurant
and spend the night at the Biltmore Hotel. You can fly by the Biltmore Hotel Complex (waypoint BMHM) on your way to KMIA.
After landing, taxi to gate GA 24 or 25 as your guest's bus will be parked between those two gates.
Flight 5 177 mn
KMIA
KTPA
Now...finally, time to take these folks home - back to Tampa Bay (KTPA) This will complete the Florida Sightseeing Charter
