Interesting video Robert.

I had not looked at what Dovetail had been doing, but heard they were one of the possible competitors for the next flight sim everyone might flock to.

I read a May 2017 review of the early-release and it was less than flattering, yet recognized that this was based on an early-release version.

They are lagging behind LM's P3d v4 now, and probably have less resources to devote to their project. Still, this healthy competition offers the best product at the lowest price for our hobby when the champion is finally identified.

Mutley's Hangar - who reviewed this, identified one of the concerns regarding the "closed system" feel of FSW. I believe that making things difficult for 3rd party developers to develop addons will be the Achilles Heel for any sim that restricts this. I think this was what allowed FSX to blossom into the sim that is still a competitor today.

LM should take heed of this as well. Although they boast about their SDK and 3rd party addon option, the cost for the recommended development tools and access to LM's developer's license are prohibitive to all but the big-name development companies.

While the best and brightest FSX developers are creating alternative tools to create for P3d v4, it's a shame that this is necessary in the first place.

Perhaps I should refrain from investing too much in P3D v4 until I'm certain that this will be the designated champion, or at least a close contender.

John
